NEIL KENGNI BECOMES OUR THIRD SUMMER SIGNING

Macclesfield FC are delighted to confirm that exciting forward Neil Kengni has agreed to join the Club from Northern Premier League side, Marine.

The 22-year-old has agreed an initial one-year contract at the Leasing.com Stadium, with the Club retaining the option of a further year’s extension.

Neil is an incredibly talented and much sought-after forward, who undoubtedly has a bright future in the game.

Completing a youth scholarship at Rochdale back in 2018, Neil then signed for Stalybridge Celtic where he made sixty-eight appearances – scoring on fourteen occasions.

Known for his pace and creativity, Neil then made the move away from Bower Fold to sign for Marine in May 2020.

Scoring fifteen goals in forty appearances, Neil played a crucial role in The Mariners securing promotion to the Northern Premier League last season.

After finishing the regular league campaign in fifth position, Neil then struck an emphatic hat-trick as Marine saw off Workington to reach the Northern Premier League – West Division play-off final.

The Merseysiders faced Runcorn Linnets back on April 30th and after Ryan Brooke had opened the scoring, Kengni struck a 71st minute equaliser before Jack Dunn secured Marine’s promotion eleven minutes from time.

Neil’s blistering form certainly didn’t go unnoticed, as he claimed the Manager’s Player of the Season, Player’s Player of the Season and Top Goalscorer awards at The Marine Travel Arena.

Understandably identified as Jimmy Holmes’ number one summer transfer target, our Head of Recruitment is delighted to have secured Neil’s services.

“Neil is someone who I have admired for quite some time and there can be no doubt that he will be a valuable addition to our squad.

“I identified Neil as our top summer target and to have brought him into the Club really does exemplify our ambitions for the new season.

“I would like to thank Marine for their professionalism during this process and wish Neil every success during his time at the Leasing.com Stadium.”
