SILKMEN PAY TRIBUTE TO ANDY WORTH AS HE CELEBRATES TWENTY YEARS AS THE SILKMEN’S MATCHDAY PA

13 Sep 2023 | Latest News

Over the last twenty years, the story of The Silkmen has seen many twists and turns.

The past two decades have seen days of euphoria mixed in with those of tragedy – with countless people playing their part in the narrative that has been written.

Yet one person has been at the very centre of it all – the legend that is Andy Worth.

Andy is a man synonymous with our very being and as a result, is unquestionably someone who commands the utmost respect from every single one of us.

Picking up the microphone for the very first time twenty years ago today, Andy’s own unique style as our PA has been ever-present throughout the good times and the bad.

Following in the footsteps of the iconic David Westbury, Andy certainly had big shoes to fill – yet he managed to effortlessly capture the imagination of the Silkmen faithful in a heartbeat.

Undeniably and unapologetically a true voice of the fans, Andy continues to captivate us all and over recent times, has proved to be an incredibly poignant link between the old club and the new.

In the midst of what can only be described as extreme adversity, Andy provided the friendly voice that everyone yearned for – the voice that told you everything would be alright in the end.

And in those cherished days of celebration, the sense of pride and emotion in Andy’s voice still rings as loud today as it did back then.

Earlier today, we caught up with Andy to celebrate this remarkable milestone and to look back on some of the standout moments over the past two decades.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls – we give you the incredible, Andy Worth.
