CLUB STATEMENT AHEAD OF SATURDAY’S GAME AGAINST RUNCORN LINNETS

16 Mar 2023 | Latest News

Everyone here at Macclesfield Football Club is looking forward to Saturday’s Northern Premier League fixture against Runcorn Linnets.

It promises to be a fantastic occasion, as two of the best teams in the league battle it out in what will surely be a pulsating encounter.

Ahead of the game, we have noted the statement issued by our colleagues at Runcorn earlier today that documents the enhanced measures that they will be taking to ensure that everyone will be able to watch the game in a safe environment.

We applaud the proactive stance that our visitors have taken regarding Saturday’s fixture and would like to document the measures that we have put in place to ensure supporter safety.

First of all, the Club has agreed a significant police presence will be in force on Saturday afternoon and this will include a dedicated Match Commander as well as a visible presence of Sergeants and Constables supporting our Stewarding Team.

In addition, we have also have enlisted the help of a number of trained dogs to be present at the turnstiles in a bid to prevent pyrotechnics from entering the Stadium.

This has all come at a considerable cost to the Football Club, but we have to attribute paramount importance to safety concerns at all times.

Given the number of disturbing comments that have been made on social media towards our Club over the past few days in particular, we feel that this cost is justified in ensuring that everyone is able to enjoy the game.

Macclesfield FC would like to reiterate that we employ a zero-tolerance stance on all anti-social behaviour and this includes the possession of any pyrotechnic.

Whether ignited or not, anyone found in possession will face immediate ejection from the Stadium.

In addition, should any pyrotechnic be ignited and thrown, the perpetrator will be arrested immediately and face prosecution.

We cannot be any clearer about this and would warn anyone intent on engaging in any form of anti-social behaviour not to enter the Stadium as severe repercussions will follow – through the courts if necessary.

Let’s all enjoy the spectacle on the pitch in an enjoyable and most importantly, safe manner.
