MATCH PREVIEW: MACCLESFIELD V WIDNES

24 Sep 2022 | Match Preview

The Silkmen return to the Leasing.com Stadium this afternoon, in order to contest our Isuzu FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round match against Widnes.

After storming through the First Qualifying Round with an emphatic 7 – 0 victory against Tadcaster Albion, Danny Whitaker will be hoping that his side will show the same clinical edge against the fellow NPL West Division side.

Our visitors currently reside within nineteenth position in the league, having accumulated two points from their five games played.

They secured their spot in the Second Qualifying Round with a penalty shootout victory over Skelmersdale United and will welcome Michael Ellison to the managerial hot-seat for the very first time today.

Ellison was installed earlier this week following the dismissal of Dave Dempsey and there can be no doubt that he will be looking to start his tenure with progression this afternoon.

TEAM NEWS

Lewis Fensome continues to recover from a hamstring injury sustained against Tadcaster Albion, whilst Dan Cowan is also ruled-out as he continues his rehabilitation after sustaining a knee injury.
