MATCH REPORT: MACCLESFIELD 6 V 1 BAMBER BRIDGE

08 Oct 2022 | Match Report

Bamber Bridges headed to Cheshire as the higher division side, but it was Macclesfield who showed their quality right from the first whistle.

James Berry, who was busy throughout the match, found Danns in insolation on six minutes and he forced Felix Goddard into a save that he parried into Curran’s path for an easy finish.

Danny Whitaker’s side continued to push for a second, with set pieces proving to be particularly fruitful.

Macc then inflicted more damage on the score line with a quick double as the first period came to an end.

Mark Duffy sprayed a ball to Berry, who played the ball through to Kengni who swept the ball past Goddard to double Macc’s advantage.

Curran then added his second almost instantly after the restart. The 23-year-old charged at a retreating Brig defence and stroked the ball in to cap a convincing first half display.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, Skinner pulled one back for Brig but it proved to be only a small set back for the Silkmen.

Five minutes after the visitor’s goal, Danns was at the end of a swift counter attack to convert Curran’s lay off from the edge of the box to make it four.

Lewis Fensome then put the game out of sight as he converted Berry’s driven cross over the line just as Bamber Bridge began to put pressure on Macc’s back line.

Maynard came off the bench to finish the scoring and hand Berry a fourth assist of the match. The striker had a simple finish tapping a close range finish home.
