Macclesfield FC were delighted to welcome Ashgate Specialist Support Primary School in Wythenshawe to the Leasing.com Stadium last week as thirteen pupils were given access all areas for the day, including a stadium tour, a kick about on the hallowed turf and mascots for a BTEC game!
The trip, arranged and overseen by Academy Coaches Ross Speight and Rhys Evans, was a unique opportunity for the lucky children who were given an in-depth tour of the home of the Silkmen, a money can’t buy on-pitch training experience and mascots for a BTEC fixture, which couldn’t have been better received by those taking part.
It was acknowledged by the organisers and supervisors from both parties how much of a rewarding day this was for the children from Ashgate, but also those at Macclesfield FC, who were equally as thrilled to see the smiles on the faces of the select few of those in attendance.
Macclesfield FC Academy and BTEC programme’s very own Fin Foote and his Mother Sarah, were the brains behind the operation of engaging with the local community on this occasion. Sarah works at Ashgate and was encouraged by Fin to provide her pupils with this one-off opportunity to spend the day as a Silkmen legend!
We were thrilled to see how much the children at Ashgate enjoyed the day and hope to be able to welcome them back to the Leasing.com Stadium for a game in the near future!
Below are some photos from the day, encapsulating the overwhelming feeling of joy spread around the ground on the day of Ashgate’s visit!
