April saw us secure our spot in the Enterprise National League North play-off places, with a statement victory away at Buxton to get us off to the best possible start, only to be pegged back by Chester, who’d continued to be a thorn in our sides since the turn of the year.
Unwilling to let the momentum be disrupted, a decisive victory followed in South Wales away at Merthyr, where our place in the play-offs would be confirmed, with Macc down to ten, James Edmondson’s last minute winner would cause delirium on and off the pitch.
Whilst results would falter on the road away at South Shields and Radcliffe, the good form continued on home turf with successive wins against Spennymoor and Southport.
The final game of the month would prove to be a huge step towards promotion to National League with victory against rivals Chester courtesy of a last minute Luke Duffy winner to set up a semi-final date against Kidderminster Harriers.
