It was a special campaign last year in the Emirates FA Cup for the Silkmen, but it was also one to remember in the FA Youth Cup.
Starting out in the First Round Qualifying, the young Silkmen secured three victories and went all the way to the First Round Proper.
It was only a top EFL side that knocked the Silkmen out of the competition at the First Round, but it was a run that they could be proud of.
The run started out in mid-September as Wythenshawe FC were the visitors to the Leasing.com Stadium.
Despite going behind early in the game, the Silkmen clawed their way back into the game to lead at the break with two goals from Harry Motley, one of which came from the penalty spot, giving Macc the advantage.
That lead was increased in the second half as Kerr Dollochin headed home from Harry Woosey’s free kick, and Tyler Mistry added a fourth, rounding off a brilliant team move with a first-time finish.
The victory over Wythenshawe FC set up a clash with Whitchurch Alport at the Leasing.com Stadium.
In the opening 11 minutes of the game, Macc took the lead through Motley as he cut in off the left and fired a right footed shot past the Alport keeper.
Mistry made it two just after the break, running down the right hand side before firing home at the far post.
The third came 10 minutes later for Macc as Harry Woosey’s spectacular effort from range crashed off the crossbar and spun back over the goalline.
Motley doubled his tally for the game and got his fourth Youth Cup goal, smashing in at the near post. Macc made it five moments later as Jayden Kirk fired home a loose ball to seal a comprehensive victory.
The Third Qualifying Round saw National League side Hartlepool United make the long trip to Cheshire.
It was another unbelievable night as the Silkmen put in a five star display to put the Pools to the sword.
15 minutes into the game, the two Harry’s combined as Woosey’s shot was parried into the path of Motley who tapped in his fifth goal in the competition.
The second on the night was arguably the pick of the bunch, as Freddie Russo found a yard of space and unleashed a left-footed strike from 25 yards out giving the keeper no chance.
Macc were flying, and made it three just 30 minutes in, as Jayden Kirk rose highest from a corner to give the Silkmen breathing room.
A Fin Foote brace rounded off another great night for the young Silkmen as they made the First Round of the competition for the first time in their history.

League One side Barnsley were the reward for the young Silkmen, providing them with their toughest test yet.
The Silkmen had held the League One side at the interval, but they showed their quality in the second half and ran away with the game.
