Sixty years ago today, Brian Fidler made his debut for The Silkmen as he scored the decisive goal that beat Stafford Rangers at the Moss Rose.
A true entertainer, Brian would soon etch himself into the hearts and minds of all Silkmen fans as he became the ultimate “Showman”.
Between 1966 and 1972, Brian scored 167 competitive goals – a feat only eclipsed by Steve Burr and Harold Kelly.
In a glittering spell, Brian claimed a wealth of medals including the Cheshire League title, Northern Premier League title (on two occasions), Cheshire Senior Cup (on two occasions) and North West Floodlit League title in 1970.
Brian also scored the second goal in our 2 – 0 victory at Wembley Stadium, as we beat Telford United to lift the very first FA Trophy in 1970.
In addition to all of this, Brian created a catalogue of memories that will never be forgotten – and all of these started on this day sixty years ago.
