A massive congratulations to Emerging Talent star Barney Wiggin, who has been North West Counties First Division North Player of the Month for September.
The forward, who is approaching his 19th birthday, is gaining vital First Team experience with Colne FC as part of his development away from the Silkmen.
The 6’4″ striker has enjoyed a stellar September with the Lancastrian side scoring nine goals in eight appearances, picking up three Man of the Match awards, and also scoring a hat-trick against rivals Darwen.
His form has continued into October as well, with Wiggin finding the net in every Colne fixture so far in the month.
Sporting Director Jonathan Bull said the following:
“Barney is a fantastic example of what we’re trying to achieve through the Emerging Talent Programme.
“His attitude and work rate has been exceptional, and the progress he has made over the last few months has been really impressive. He’s a young lad who works incredibly hard, listens, wants to learn and is constantly looking to improve.
“At just 18, to be producing these sorts of performances and scoring consistently in men’s football is a tremendous achievement. He has all the attributes to develop into a very good centre forward, and he has got the hunger and determination to get better.
“We’re delighted with his development at Colne under Andy Harrison, and the challenge now is to keep working hard, maintain those standards and continue progressing towards our First Team environment at Macclesfield.”
Barney is certainly on a great path in his development and we are pleased with the progress he is making with Colne at such a young age.
