Macclesfield FC were deeply saddened to learn that much-loved former right-back George Sievwright passed away on Saturday.

George will forever remain an iconic part of our history, after joining the Club back in the summer of 1966.

Quickly cementing himself as a fan’s favourite, George played a pivotal role in The Silkmen winning the first-ever Northern Premier League in 1969 and the inaugural FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium the following year.

In total, George made 266 appearances over six seasons for The Silkmen, and the memories created within these will unquestionably live on forevermore.

Our thoughts and most sincere condolences go out to all of George’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time.

Rest in peace, George.
