Following the conclusion of the 2025/26 Enterprise National League North campaign, news published recently regarding contract renewals and subsequent supporter feedback, Sporting Director Jonathan Bull wishes to provide the following update
At Macclesfield FC, we carefully consider the level of operational detail shared publicly regarding areas such as player contract lengths, injuries, suspensions, and squad availability.
Modern football is extremely competitive, within which, information can quickly and effectively be used by opposition teams, agents, rival clubs and external parties to name a few in order to gain an advantage both on and off the pitch.
By limiting certain disclosures, the Club aims to:
– Protect its competitive position.
– Avoid giving opponents tactical advantages.
– Maintain stronger negotiating positions regarding player contracts and recruitment.
– Reduce unnecessary speculation and distractions around the squad.
– Protect player privacy and maintain a professional internal environment.
While transparency with supporters remains important to us, there are certain football and operational matters where confidentiality is in the best interests of the club and its long-term objectives.
Jonathan Bull
Sporting Director
