AN UPDATE FROM THE CLUB’S SHAREHOLDERS

As you may well have seen, Rob Smethurst has decided to step down from all involvement in day-to-day activities at our Football Club.

Ultimately, Rob has decided to do this with the very best interests of our Club at heart, and we fully understand the rationale that has led Rob to make what has unquestionably been a very difficult decision on so many levels.

Nobody can ever question Rob’s commitment to this Football Club and the vibrant legacy that he has helped create.

Without Rob Smethurst, there would be no Macclesfield Football Club – and certainly not the one we all see before us today.

Rob helped to raise a community from its knees, and for that, every single person who holds Macclesfield FC dear to them should be eternally grateful.

Over recent years, Rob has sought external investment in order to make Macclesfield FC the very best it can be – both in the short and the long term.

Rob has made no secret of this and has only ever entertained people who mirror his own passionate and unwavering dedication to this wonderful Football Club and its supporters.

As such, we feel incredibly honoured to serve the fans and local community more widely, in our collective bid to achieve what this Club so richly deserves.

Underpinning this will be returning the Club to a financial position which is sustainable – both this season and for many more to come. The Shareholders will be doing their utmost to achieve this in the quickest possible timeframe and trust that they can count on the support of the amazing Silkmen faithful throughout this process.

We fully appreciate that supporters will want to hear more from us over the coming weeks, and you can be assured that we are absolutely committed to retaining the levels of transparency that have proved to be a pillar in this Club’s success to date.

Whilst Rob may have stepped aside in relation to day-to-day activities, he will retain his shareholding, and as a collective, we will work relentlessly to ensure that Macclesfield FC continues the incredible trajectory that it has enjoyed over the course of the last five years.

This Football Club – together with its past, present and future, means everything to us, and you can be assured that we are entering the next phase of our evolution with positivity, ambition and that unbreakable unity which has served us so well thus far.

We will provide further updates at the very earliest opportunity.
