AWAY DAY BLUES: ALTRINCHAM

The Silkmen head North through Cheshire for our next pre-season friendly away at Altrincham tomorrow afternoon.

For those heading to the J.Davidson Stadium, here is all the key information you need to know.

Altrincham FC, Moss Lane, Altrincham, Cheshire, WA15 8AP

About the Club – Founded – 1891, Nickname – The Robins, Manager – Neil Gibson, Ground – J.Davidson Stadium, Capacity – 7,873, 2025/26 POS – 13th (NL)

Public Transport – The Moss Lane ground is around a 10-15 minute walk from Altrincham Railway Station. The trams occupy two platforms on the western side of the station, whilst trains use the two platforms on the eastern side. Altrincham Railway Station is served by trains from Manchester Piccadilly, and the journey between the two normally takes around 28 minutes. The Metrolink service on the Altrincham line is currently suspended due to major engineering works, with supporters advised to plan their journeys with this in mind.

To walk to the ground, you have two options: Exit the Interchange via the main entrance (there is a clock tower in front of the main entrance), and take the first left into Moss Lane. Then just keep going straight down Moss Lane, and you will eventually come to the ground on your left.

Alternatively, exit the station from the most eastern platform, where trains depart for Chester. Once you have gone down a small flight of steps, turn immediately hard right and make your way through a rather uneven car park. Head for the traffic lights, not too far from a big Tesco. Turn left at the traffic lights and you are in Moss Lane. Incidentally, the huge telecoms mast beside the ground is an excellent landmark to head for, visible from the eastern side of the station.

By Car – Head north out of Macclesfield via the Silk Road into Adlington and take the A556 towards Manchester Airport. Join the M56 at the airport, before exiting one junction later at junction 6 and take the A538 towards Hale Barns/Altrincham. After two miles (in which you will have passed through Hale Barns), you will go through the traffic lights that are the junction with the A5144 (Delahays Road). After these traffic lights, take the third right into Westminster Road. Carry straight on down Westminster Road, which becomes Bancroft Road and then Moss Lane. The ground is down on the right.

Parking – There is little in the way of parking at the ground itself, though the Club suggest that visitors make use of the local on-street parking spaces in the surrounding area. One potential spot for fans can be found further along Moss Lane, where a business unit called Aecom (WA15 8FH) offers match day parking on Saturdays.

Arrangements – Segregation will be in place for our trip to the J.Davidson Stadium, so it is important that Silkmen supporters purchase the correct class of tickets, as they will be refused entry to the stadium.

There will now be a pay on the turnstile option for away supporters, with ticket prices remaining the same on match day. Both cash and card transactions will be accepted at Altrincham. The fixture remains segregated, therefore supporters must still enter via away turnstiles only.

Ticket prices are as follows:

18 and Over – £10

17 and Under – £5

*All under 14’s must be accompanied by a paying adult*

Supporters can purchase their ticket via the link HERE.

Food and Drink – Hot and cold refreshments will be available for visiting supporters inside the ground.
