Macclesfield FC are delighted to have retained Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s services for the 2026/27 Enterprise National League North season!
Borthwick-Jackson joined us in January following a spell on loan at Ross County, previously having spent a period abroad with Slask Wroclaw.
The versatile defender had an impressive start to life in football at Manchester United, making ten senior appearances, after which he went out on loan to Wolves, Leeds, Scunthorpe, Tranmere and Oldham, the latter of whom he became a permanent signing for ahead of a spell at Burton Albion before exploring a new option in Poland.
Cameron struggled to settle in Poland and upon his return to the British Isles with Ross County, and confessed to falling out of love with football, spending the best part of eighteen months away from the sport before being the offered the opportunity to train with Macclesfield on a trial basis, eventually earning him a deal upon return to full fitness in January.
Borthwick-Jackson made his debut the day he signed for the Silkmen against Radcliffe at the Leasing.com Stadium before our historic Emirates FA Cup Third and Fourth Round ties against Crystal Palace and Brentford, in which he also featured.
Following his baptism of fire, he quickly became a regular feature on John Rooney’s team sheets and has been a valuable addition to the Club, providing both quality and composure on the ball, coupled with a tireless work-rate and intelligent positioning off the ball, to keep Cam for our second season in the Enterprise National League North was a no brainer.
Reflecting on his emphatic return to football, Cameron hailed it as his “greatest ever achievement”, and Macclesfield were delighted to offer such a talented footballer a deserved opportunity to flourish once more in the sport that he loves.
The left back by trade has become a preferred personality in Macc’s back line in the second half of the season, often selected if available by Rooney and has produced consistently impressive performances which helped the Club in to the play-offs having joined us in 14th place in the Enterprise National League North.
With a full pre-season and entire campaign to present his best attributes, Macclesfield FC are incredibly excited to have Cameron on board with us for the 2026/27 season and wish him the very best of luck for his second season with the Silkmen.
