North-West businessman and investor Darren Wright has officially acquired a stake in Macclesfield Football Club, signalling further ambitious & strategic growth plans for the Club.

Darren states:

“I’m thrilled to step into the world of football club ownership—a dream turning into reality.

“This is more than an investment; it’s a passion project to build legacy, support talent, and connect with the fans of this great football club, where pride and community spirit run deep.

“It’s a privilege to be a part of something truly special, and I’m looking forward to celebrating unforgettable moments on and off the pitch”.

The investment will support the Club’s long-term development goals, from infrastructure upgrades and Youth Academy expansion to enhanced Community Programmes and, of course, competitive First Team squad building.

Club Chairman & Owner Robert Smethurst welcomed the new partnership:

“Football isn’t just a game – it’s connection, it’s culture, it’s community.

“Like any great business, it thrives when you invest in people, purpose, and a plan.

“This isn’t just a simple investment—this is commitment & dedication, Darren shares our vision for growth, sustainability, and success.

“We couldn’t ask for a better partner as we take the next step in our journey, and we welcome him into the Macclesfield FC family”.
