CLUB UPDATE

Macclesfield FC would like to advise supporters of a behind-the-scenes restructure which we will be implementing over the course of the coming weeks.

The aim of this is to aid our evolution as a Football Club, as we strive towards our ultimate ambition of achieving EFL status.

First of all, we will be strengthening our wonderful behind-the-scenes team by appointing either an individual, or a team of individuals to manage all day-to-day financial decision-making.

This represents a significant step forward, as we reiterate our commitment to taking this Club as far as we possibly can.

It also means that after five years of leading the Club on a day-to-day basis, Chairman Rob Smethurst will now be able to enjoy a little more free time to progress his other business interests.

Rob will retain his roles of Director and Owner of course, but will be diluting the amount of time he commits to the Club in lieu of the aforementioned appointment(s).

Finally, the Club will be looking to include members of our fanbase in a new Consultation Group going forward.

More details on this will follow in due course, safe to say that transparency with our supporters remains at the centre of everything we do.

Chairman Rob Smethurst stated –

“There can be no doubt that the Football Club has entered a new stage in its evolution.

“With this comes much excitement, but also greater pressures – particularly on a day-to-day basis.

“Due to my other business commitments, I feel now is the right time to appoint either one person or a team of people to steer us in the right direction going forward.

“As always, this decision has been made in the very best interest of the Club, and please be assured that this is not some subliminal message that means I am about to leave!

“Quite the opposite in fact – because by making this decision, I feel that I am helping to ensure that this wonderful Club reaches its undoubted potential in the not too distant future.

“We are also planning to involve fan representatives over the course of the next few weeks, so it remains a very exciting time for us all to be part of this Football Club.”
