Macclesfield FC would like to place on record its sincere thanks to everyone for their patience and understanding during yesterday’s release of general sale tickets for our Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie against Crystal Palace at the Leasing.com Stadium.
Demand for the match was exceptional, and we are incredibly grateful for the way supporters worked with us throughout what was always going to be a very busy process. Unfortunately, with demand far exceeding the capacity of the stadium, it was inevitable that not everyone would be successful in securing a ticket.
As supporters will appreciate, a number of allocations had to be accounted for ahead of the general sale, including season ticket holders, Slough Town ticket holders, sponsors, hospitality, media and the away allocation. This meant that the number of tickets available when sales opened was already limited.
The Club worked hard to prioritise those with a recent history of ticket purchases and supporters local to the Club, with the aim of giving as many of our most loyal fans as possible the opportunity to be part of what is a truly historic occasion.
We were delighted to see so many supporters able to secure tickets, and it was genuinely rewarding to share in the excitement that came with that.
We also fully recognise and understand the disappointment felt by those who queued for long periods but were ultimately unsuccessful. We are very sorry for that frustration and appreciate the effort and commitment shown by everyone who tried.
Throughout the sales process, staff made every effort to keep supporters in the queue updated on the number of tickets remaining; however, due to the volume and speed of transactions being processed, these figures were changing constantly.
While we regret that we couldn’t accommodate every request, we believe the Club explored every reasonable option available within the constraints we faced.
It has also been brought to our attention that a small number of individuals have attempted to misuse the ticketing process, including unauthorised reselling or misleading others online. We want to reassure supporters that appropriate steps will be taken in line with Club policy to protect fans and the integrity of the process.
We were saddened to see a small amount of abuse directed both online and in person towards Club staff and volunteers once all tickets had been sold. These individuals worked tirelessly and in good faith to help supporters throughout the process, and we ask that they are treated with the respect they deserve.
Our focus now is firmly on the football and on what promises to be a hugely exciting and memorable occasion for the Club. We look forward to welcoming all supporters who have successfully obtained tickets to the Leasing.com Stadium on Saturday 10th January.
For those unable to attend in person, the match will be broadcast live on BBC One, TNT Sports and Discovery+ so everyone can still be part of the occasion.
Thank you once again for your passion, patience and continued support of Macclesfield FC.
