Macclesfield FC are delighted to announce the signing of Ammar Dyer following his departure from AFC Telford United!

The 22 year-old joins Macc’s defensive ranks having impressed for fellow Enterprise National League North side AFC Telford United throughout the 2025/26 Enterprise National League North season, contributing significantly to the four points taken from the Silkmen by the Bucks in the sides’ two meetings.

Dyer enjoyed last season with Telford, making 37 appearances across the campaign, providing four goals and two assists in the process. The full-back by trade provides an additional energetic option for John Rooney in his defensive department, though is more than capable of offering an offensive option as a wing back, proven with his six league goal contributions along with an additional assist in the Bucks’ Emirates FA Cup First Round tie against Sutton United.

Ammar spent the majority of the season playing left back for Telford, though his versatility also allows him to play on either side. The young full-back is keen to get going with the Silkmen having aimed for play-off football with the Bucks last season, and with a direct ambition to be promoted at the second time of asking, Macclesfield was the perfect move for both parties in order to help achieve that goal.

Starting out life at local EFL side Port Vale as an academy scholar, the pacy youngster was an attractive asset from the outset, since featuring for the likes of Leek Town, Sporting Bromsgrove and Alvechurch before joining Telford at the beginning of last season, where he predominantly caught the eye of the Management team at Macclesfield.

Recognised for both his athletic and technical ability, Dyer is an exciting addition for the Silkmen as we fast approach the 2026/27 season, in which the full-back will pose as healthy competition for Luis Lacey, recently renewing his stay with Macc, along with a fellow recent addition, Lincoln McFayden from AFC Fylde.

Everyone at Macclesfield FC is looking forward to giving Ammar a warm welcome to the Leasing.com Stadium when he officially becomes a Macclesfield player upon the opening of the registration window on the 1st July.
