After signing for the Silkmen last week, Ammar Dyer excitedly introduced himself to the Silkmen faithful, explained how the move came about and what he hopes to achieve with the Club in the upcoming campaign.
Dyer’s initial reaction was one of enthusiasm as he began by stating “I’m excited to get going, it’s been a good off-season and I can’t wait to get started here now”
When posed with the question of how he came to join the Silkmen, Ammar explained “it came about pretty early on, last season ended and I wasn’t on a contract so the Gaffer got in touch in the first couple of weeks, we were going back and forth for a few weeks to get it sorted, eventually all parties were happy and I was ready to make the step to Macclesfield.
In terms of his playing style, our loyal fanbase can expect to see a “very offensive full back, getting forward and making things happen” which is exactly what Dyer prides himself on.
His move to Macclesfield was largely owing to the performances put in against us last season as Dyer referenced apologetically “Hopefully I can do what I did to you guys last year! That’s what I’m planning to do so hopefully I can kick on at the start of the season”
After the first day of back, Ammar reviewed the return as “pretty difficult, but it was expected, the boys are great, the Gaffer is great and it was a really enjoyable first day”
Having previously joined up with teams midway through campaigns, Dyer confessed “this is my first pre-season properly for a decent amount of time with a Club, so I’m excited to get going!”
Recognising the size of Macc’s fan base, Ammar added “Last year was the most fans I’ve played in front of, at Telford, which was about a thousand, so going from one thousand to three thousand is crazy in my head and I can’t wait to play in front of crowds like that week in, week out!”
Dyer concluded by outlining the ambition for the 2026/27 Enterprise National League North season “promotion is the goal, that’s what everyone’s pushing towards, we all want the same thing and I can’t wait to get going with that”
