JONATHAN BULL ANNOUNCED AS NEW INVESTOR

26 Mar 2024 | Latest News

We are delighted to announce that Jonathan Bull has become an investor at Macclesfield FC.

Jonathan is a successful entrepreneur founding various businesses associated with product sourcing, manufacture, and distribution. He also has interests with a commercial property portfolio, a digital marketing company, an industrial pipe manufacturer, and an online retailer.

Director Robert Smethurst stated the following-

“Over the course of the recent past, I have made no secret of the fact that I have been looking to attract the right sort of investment to take Macclesfield FC to the next stage of its evolution.

“There can be no doubt that we should all be incredibly proud of what we have achieved since our inception, but now is the time to look further into the future and safeguard both our existence and success in the long-term.

“Everyone at this Football Club knows our ambition – to gain promotion to the EFL in the fullness of time.

“To give us the very best chance of achieving that, external investment needed to be secured and I am delighted to confirm that we will be welcoming two other Investors also to the Club over the course of the next few weeks.

“Each of these has something unique to offer our Club and I will willingly dilute my shareholding to accomodate people who will take us closer to our ultimate goals. I will however remain the ultimate shareholder with power of control.

“I never wanted this Club to be run with just one Owner – as the old Macclesfield Town was.  In order to safeguard our future and give us the very best chance of taking this Club into the EFL, it was imperative that I sought external support – but from the right people, with the right intentions.

“In Jonathan Bull, there can be no doubt that we are very fortunate to have someone of his stature joining us. Jonathan is an incredibly successful businessman who is passionate about taking this Club forward.

“He is someone who I trust implicitly and I am genuinely delighted that he has decided to invest in the Club.

“Jonathan will bring a wealth of qualities and business acumen with him and I am sure that you will all join with me in warmly welcoming him to the Leasing.com Stadium.

“In terms of the other two investors, I will provide you all with an update on these in due course – safe to say that these are very exciting times for everyone involved in the Football Club.”

Jonathan had the following to say on his investment with the Club –

“When you invest in a Club that’s as well followed as Macclesfield FC, you must have great respect for its history and tradition, I understand that not only am I investing in the squad and manager, I’m investing in the town and its people. I take that responsibility very seriously and intend to work hard to earn their trust and support.

“My youngest son Lucas and myself started supporting the Club when we moved area 10 years ago.

“I think it’s important that people support their local team no matter the level and we would regularly go to games – sitting in what was then the Silk FM Main Stand.

“Fast forward a few years and both my sons are members of the Club’s Academy and we attend as many games as possible – both home and away.

“What Rob and Sav have done over the past three years has been amazing and I’m grateful to have been part of that journey as a fan, sponsor and friend. I hope that I can add value to the Club and help ensure our progression up the leagues in the same sustainable manner as we have achieved all we have previously.”

Director of Football Robbie Savage spoke about the new investment. He said the following –

“We are delighted to have Jonathan on board to help grow the club in commercial areas.

“First and foremost, we want good people at the Club and Jonathan certainly meets those characteristics.”
