JUNIOR ACADEMY FOCUS: UNDER 14 GIRLS

12 Mar 2024 | Junior Academy, Latest News

Our next Junior Academy focus comes from our Under 14 Girls who won their game at the weekend.

It was a strong start to the game with a key focus on winning individual battles.

To combat the opposition’s long-ball approach, the girls changed shape going with inverted wingers.

This worked well straight away, with the girls taking the lead very early in the game.

The midfield and defence were always first to every ball and were confident in one-on-one battles.

In the second half, the wind caused the girls to adjust their starting positions to be able to deal with long balls.

This resulted in the side playing the ball well on the floor and scoring two goals from counterattacks.

It was a great team performance with the main positives being decision making and positioning off the ball.
