JUNIOR ACADEMY FOCUS – UNDER 16 ELITE

30 Jan 2024 | Junior Academy, Latest News

As part of a new feature, each week we will be focussing on two of our Junior Academy sides.

This week we will be looking at our U16 Elite side who at the weekend played a friendly game against Notts County coming out 3-2 winners.

The aim of training last week was focussing on how the side plays out of possession and looking to press high when possible.

It was a good start for the side going ahead early on after pressing high from the front and putting County under pressure. The opponents resorted to playing balls over the top which was defended well.

The Magpies equalised from a set piece but the young Silkmen reacted well pressing with really high intensity and re-took the lead from a set piece of our own.

Early in the second half, it was important that organisation and concentration were in order and Macc managed to eliminate any clear cut chances that the hosts posed.

The Young Silkmen went further in front with a really well taken from another set piece move to take a 3-1 lead.

Notts did pull a goal back from a cross come shot but the group showed a great amount of character and pick up a deserved win.
