Macclesfield FC can confirm that Luis Lacey will remain with the Club for the 2026/27 Enterprise National League North season.

Lacey joined us following his departure from Curzon Ashton in August of last year, just after the start of the 2025/26 campaign, predominantly competing with Brandon Lee for a place in the starting eleven at left back, though also offers a great deal of versatility to the Silkmen, with previous experience of playing further forward, both on the wing and in the centre of midfield.

Luis burst onto the scene with a goal on his Macclesfield debut, replacing Lee in the first half due to injury, before going on to score the decider at Haig Avenue, providing the Silkmen with their first win on the road of the season at Southport.

The full back kept his place in John Rooney’s team with Brandon sidelined for a number of weeks, taking the opportunity to impress and remain a consistent starter for the Silkmen going forward.

The two left-sided full-backs challenged each other healthily for that chance from the off upon Lee’s return to fitness, though the enjoyable battle was short-lived as Lee suffered a further set-back in December away at Slough in the Emirates FA Cup Second Round, providing Lacey with a further run in the team for the majority of the remainder of the campaign, making 52 appearances in all competitions.

Prior to joining the Silkmen, Luis, brother of Manchester United startlet Shea, also progressed through the academies at Barnsley and Tranmere Rovers, before enjoying his first spell of senior football at Flint Town. He was snapped up by the Tameside based team having impressed in 26 appearances for the then-Cyrmu North side, scoring three goals before making 33 appearances and scoring a further two goals for the Nash.

Rooney added Luis to his ranks for the 2025/26 campaign following two consistently encouraging performances at a similar level, impressing also in his third season in men’s football with Macclesfield, earning him a deal with us for a second season in the Enterprise National League North.

Everyone at Macclesfield FC is delighted to have kept Luis with us for another season and wish him the very best of luck in his extended spell with us!
