We are delighted to announce that Brentford FC Community Sports Trust will be partnering with Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust to support the delivery of our free football sessions to our young people in the local community.
This includes the Smethurst Foundation sessions here at the stadium on Tuesday evenings and also our Street sports sessions across Macclesfield & Cheshire East every evening of the week.
This collaborative partnership will support Macclesfield FC’s community football programme, which delivers to over 500 young people free weekly football & Multiactivity sessions from the age of 4 to 16.
We are also very thankful to Brentford FC Community Sports Trust as they have offered to provide professional development support to Macclesfield FC community coaches, which will help our continual growth and development at a charity,  as the two Trusts work together to use the power of football to strengthen communities.
Our head of Community Trust, Lee Folkard acknowledges the significance of this partnership.
‘We are delighted to announce this partnership, and one that really does show the power of community football via two clubs thousands of miles apart being drawn together in the FA Cup.
I would like to extend my thanks to the Brentford CST who we will be working with not only to grow our localised football sessions, but also to support our staff with amazing development opportunities for their future’
Brentford FC Community Sports Trust has been working in west London for nearly 40 years, using the power of football to inspire and educate.
Since it was set up in 1987, BFCCST has evolved and diversified to provide sport, health, disability, education projects and much more across west London and currently have 200 staff and volunteers who provide regular coaching, mentoring, education and employment opportunities for more than 12,000 participants every year. Something for us to inspire to and to plan towards for our future.
As part of this collaboration, Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust coaches will be joining BFCCST’s Changing The Game apprenticeship. This initiative, created by BFCCST and co-funded by the Premier League and PFA, aims to create a new generation of Community Development professionals through training and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
The message below from Brentford FC Community Sports Trust CEO and Founder Lee Doyle really does say it all :
“Football has an incredible power to bring communities together and this is a great example of that.
“Brentford FC Community Sports Trust uses the power of sport to educate and inspire, and this mirrors the community ethos central to Macclesfield through the community projects currently being delivered throughout Cheshire East.
Macclesfield’s historic FA Cup run on the pitch has created a spark and now we hope to work in partnership to support their community outreach and enable even more local children to access the game.
“Monday’s match presents the opportunity to forge relationships that extend beyond the full-time whistle and Brentford FC Community Sports Trust is delighted to be supporting the work of Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust today and in the future.”
Many thanks to Lee and his amazing team at BFCCST for all the support, guidance, knowledge and opportunities for our future.
