Alex Bruce’s undefeated start came to an end after Jordan Preston secured all three points for the away side.

The winner came in the 57th minute when Luke Berry’s save deflected towards Preston who struck the ball into the goal.

Kane Drummond opened the scoring in the third minute after brilliant build up play from Oumar Niasse and Luke Duffy.

Drummond, who has been in great goal scoring form recently, received a through ball from Duffy and calmly slotted the ball into the net.

In the 15th minute, Preston hit the ball into the bottom left corner beyond Dylan Berry’s reach as the Silkmen were unable to clear the ball under pressure.

John Rooney played a through ball to Niasse who was brought down in the box and awarded a penalty in the 35th minute

Macclesfield captain, Alex Curran, scored from the penalty spot sending goalkeeper Tom Scott the wrong way.

In the second minute of added time in the first half, Lewis Hey scored from a free kick in the top left corner after Laurent Mendy fouled Chinedu Osadebe on the edge of the box.

Osadebe put the away side ahead for the first time two minutes later with a good finish.

The forward struck the ball to the right of the goal which Berry was unable to get a hand to.

In a crowded penalty box, Drummond dribbled away from multiple defenders and sent the ball into the bottom left for his second of the game minutes after Osadebe’s goal.

Niasse came close to levelling the score near the end with an acrobatic effort which was saved by Scott.

The first half was an open game with many opportunities on either end of the pitch which led to six goals in the opening 45 minutes.

Macclesfield pressured Park Avenue’s back line in the final 15 minutes but were unable to score an equaliser.

This result leaves The Silkmen one point behind sixth place Hyde United in the Northern Premier League.
