Macclesfield fell to back to back home defeats in their pre season campaign losing, 1-0 to Halifax Town.

The Shaymen started brightly as Owen Bray crossed the ball into Will Harris whose flicked shot brushed off the near post. Shortly after this, Halifax were in behind again as Jamie Cooke’s cross failed to find anyone in the middle.

15 minutes in, The Silkmen’s first chance of the game arrived as D’Mani Mellor dribbled through Halifax’s defence with his shot being saved by Johnson.

Just before the first half whistle blew, Brandon Lee whipped a great cross into the box finding new signing Isaac Buckley-Ricketts who blazed the ball over the bar from close range.

In first half added time, Halifax had a great chance to go into the break in front. Jamie Cooke crossed the ball into the box with Sean Tarima laying the ball down for Will Harris whose shot hit the crossbar.

The second half began with Macclesfield starting stronger with Brandon Lee involved again as he whipped another ball into the box with Danny Elliott’s shot going over the bar.

64 minutes in, Halifax Town went in front through Will Harris as his deflected shot rolled into the bottom right corner.

With 15 minutes to go Lewis Fensome had the ball outside of the box with his long range effort going over the bar.

Into the last 10 minutes of the game, captain Paul Dawson’s freekick was fantastically saved by Sam Johnson but the ball fell to Luke Duffy whose shot was clawed off the line by Johnson.

The full time whistle blew with Macclesfield losing 1-0 to Enterprise National League side Halifax Town.

Macclesfield will look to get back to winning ways in pre-season on Tuesday night when they face Connah’s Quay.
