Woltman joins the Silkmen ranks after a successful trial period with the Club, having trained with the group for the last few weeks and has impressed Manager John Rooney in doing so, earning himself a short-term deal at the Leasing.com Stadium.

Max started his career at Premier League champions Liverpool FC and worked his way through the ranks at Melwood, eventually becoming a regular in the Reds’ U23 side during the 2021/22 season. He made his senior debut for the six time European champions in the same season in the UEFA Champions League against AC Milan at the San Siro. He also made his first senior start for the eight time FA Cup winners in the third round of famous old competition against Shrewsbury Town at Anfield.

In the following season, Max was loaned out to current League One side Doncaster Rovers, making 13 appearances for Rovers, before being recalled by Liverpool in January of 2023.

Having spent the second half of the season back training with the Liverpool first team, Woltman was snapped up by now Championship side Oxford United, situated in League One at the time of signing Max, where he went on to make a further three senior appearances in the EFL Trophy, whilst part of the side which gained promotion to the Championship in 2023/24.

Upon his departure from the U’s in the summer, Rooney and assistant Francis Jeffers invited Max to train with the Silkmen before agreeing to join for the remainder of the 2025/26 season in the last week.

Upon completing the signing of Woltman, Rooney expressed his delight “I’m made up that we’ve managed to get the deal over the line with Max, he was really highly thought of at Liverpool, he’s got bags of ability and has really impressed me in training over the last few weeks. I’m keen to see what the lad can do for us and hopefully he’ll be a great addition to the side”

Everyone at Macclesfield FC would like to wish Max all the very best of luck during his time with the Club and look forward to seeing him in action for the Silkmen!

Max is eligible to play in tomorrow’s Enterprise National League North fixture against Curzon Ashton at the Leasing.com Stadium, kicking off at 3pm. Tickets remain available HERE
