Macclesfield FC are delighted to announce the signing of full-back Lincoln McFayden, following his departure from AFC Fylde!
The 24 year-old defender joins Macc’s ranks ahead of the 2026/27 Enterprise National League North season having won the previous campaign with the Coasters.
McFayden quickly follows in the footsteps of his former Fylde team-mate George Wilson, who he’ll link back up with at Macc having both agreed terms either side of the weekend.
Both players recognise the Silkmen’s ambition, and with the project well underway at the Leasing.com Stadium to return to the EFL, it was the perfect opportunity for both players to continue on their own individual progressive journeys in their careers with Macclesfield.
Lincoln began his career at Preston North End, progressing through their academy at Springfields, before heading to South Wales to further pursue his dreams at Swansea City, where he began to flourish over a three year period, eventually making his first team debut in the Carabao Cup against Reading.
In search of regular game time in men’s football, McFayden went out loan to Penybont, where he’d feature seven times and score his first senior goal. Lincoln briefly returned to Swansea at the end of his loan spell before the expiry of his contract, when he would feature in two trial games at Mill Farm, earning him a one year deal with Fylde.
Lincoln went on to make 24 appearances for Craig Mahon’s side over the course of last season, contributing four goals along the way, making him a promising asset, noted during our clash with the Coasters back in December, in which McFayden would play 90 minutes in Fylde’s 5-1 victory over the Silkmen.
Lincoln becomes the only registered left back for John Rooney’s side with further recruitment ongoing ahead of the 2026/27 season, and is expected to feature from the off both in Macc’s pre-season fixtures and from the start of next season.
Everyone at Macclesfield FC would like to wish Lincoln lots of luck during his time at the Leasing.com Stadium and look forward to him hopefully helping us to achieve our ambition of promotion to the Enterprise National League.
Lincoln will officially become a Macclesfield FC player upon the expiry of his contract and the opening of the registration window on Wednesday 1st July.
