Macclesfield FC can confirm that goalkeeper Joe Nicholson has joined North West Counties Premier Division side Cheadle Town on dual registration terms.
Nicholson joined the Silkmen following his departure from Enterprise National League side Rochdale in the summer and has since provided excellent competition to and cover for his GK union Max Dearnley and more recently, Shea Callister.
Nicholson has also had the recently jumped at the opportunity of and enjoyed game time with Ross Speight’s Under 23 side, though now makes the move to Cheadle, arranged by First Team Goalkeeping Coach Danny Whiting in search of game time in men’s football.
The shot-stopper follows a number of academy scholars to North West Counties sides, who’ve played in front of the young goalie in Macc’s Under 23 side, as they all look to progress their careers by gaining experience in a bid to make a name for themselves in the men’s game.
Joe, like others who’ve departed on dual registrations, is still eligible to feature for the Silkmen during his time away and will continue to be a part of first team training sessions at the Leasing.com Stadium.
We would like to thanks Cheadle for providing Joe with the opportunity to further progress his game and wish him the very best of luck during his spell with the Stingers.
