PRE-SEASON FIXTURE NEWS: WARRINGTON TOWN VS MACCLESFIELD FC

The Silkmen have added to their pre-season campaign with a trip to Warrington Town on Tuesday 21st July, kicking off at 7:45pm.

The Yellows will be our First Team’s fourth opposition of pre-season, welcoming Wolves to the Leasing.com Stadium three days prior before making the short journey to Altrincham the following weekend.

The side from West Cheshire finished fourteenth in the Northern Premier League last season, retaining their status in the 7th tier of English football following relegation from the National League North the season before. Manager Paul Carden will field what we expect to be a strong side against Macclesfield at Cantilever Park.

Relatively recent success for Warrington came in the form of reaching the Second Round of the FA Cup in 2014/15, beating then EFL League Two side Exeter City at home in the First Round before falling to defeat away at Gateshead.

Each side will be wanting to prepare in the best possible way for their upcoming campaigns, with promotion the aim for both sides in this instance, as Warrington will be wishing to return to the National League North whilst the Silkmen will want to continue their upward trajectory in to the National League.

The game comes just beyond the midway point of pre-season, at which stage John Rooney will have chance to take stock of what he will have witnessed up to that point, addressing any weaknesses and improving on strengths before the new season rolls round, beginning on Saturday 8th August.

Those players already contracted for the 2026/27 season are all expected to feature in a limited capacity, including new signings George Wilson, Lincoln McFayden, Christian Dibble and Fin Shrimpton, who will all be eager to solidify their places in the Silkmen’s starting XI.

Those trialists and academy graduates who have impressed in the early stages of pre-season will likely also make the journey to Cantilever Park for the fixture, in a bid to impress and earn themselves a permanent deal.

Ticket details are still to be confirmed and will be published at a later date, closer to the date of the game. Supporters are welcome to attend and will be provided with further information at the earliest opportunity.
