An early Danny Elliott overhead kick saw The Silkmen make it two from two with victory over Prescot Cables.
A dominant first-half display was rewarded as Neil Kengni was sent in down the left before crossing to Elliott whose overhead kick beat Mendes in the Prescot goal.
Cables had strong claims for a penalty moments from time as the ball had appeared to hit Kengni’s chest despite the ball being in close proximity to his arm.
In a first half with many chances for The Silkmen, Elliott Whitehouse was the closest as his vicious drive rattled against the crossbar from 25 yards out.
Robbie Savage’s side had the much better of the first half and probably should have been four up with John Rooney and Danny Whitehead also coming close to doubling our advantage midway through the first half.
Justin Johnson was a constant thorn in the Cables’ side with the former Chorley winger coming close on a number of occasions and causing Michael Carberry a number of problems down the Macc right-hand side.
The visitors did have chances of their own to snatch a point with John Murphy coming close in the first as well as Lewis Gilboy forcing Max Dearnley into his only real save of note.
