Macclesfield FC cruise their way to victory after a 4-1 win against Stockton Town.
The Silkmen’s top scorer, Danny Elliott, added another goal to his tally for the season after breaking the deadlock inside 11 minutes.
10 minutes later, Stockton Town’s captain, Adam Nicholson equalised for the Anchors from a set piece.
In the 32nd minute, D’Mani Mellor restored Macclesfield’s lead as they aimed to keep it before half time.
Robbie Savage’s men would soon have a two-goal cushion when James Edmondson claimed his third goal of the season with five minutes left of the first half.
Both goalkeepers were very active in the second half as Elliott was denied a goal twice in the 46th minute, after a double save from Nathan Harker.
Max Dearnley was determined not to concede again after saving Kevin Hayes’ deflected shot at full stretch. Another deflected shot from the Anchors almost put them back in the game as Lewis King’s effort went narrowly wide.
In the 64th minute, Michael Sweet had a great opportunity to score but missed a header from Stephen Thompson’s cross.
With 15 minutes left to play of the 90, Dearnley kept Macclesfield’s two-goal advantage after a terrific low save to deny Lewis Leech.
The match would soon be over when substitute, Sean Etaluku, secured three points after extending the Silkmen’s lead in the 90th minute.
Macclesfield remain unbeaten at home in the Northern Premier League and continue to be 13 points ahead at the top of the table.
The next fixture for the Silkmen is a trip to Lancashire as they continue their league action against Bamber Bridge on Tuesday night.
