Macclesfield FC ended their title-winning season on a high with a comfortable 4-0 victory against Whitby Town.

The first big opportunity came in the 19th minute as Lewis Fensome made his way into the box before a deflected shot just breezed past the post.

Just seconds later, John Rooney’s delivery from the corner found Fensome at the back post as he headed the ball across goal to Rollin Menayese, who bagged his second Silkmen goal of the season.

In the 25th minute, Luke Duffy extended the Silkmen’s lead after shooting from distance, which hit the post before taking a heavy deflection off Whitby keeper, Shane Bland, before crossing the goal line.

Danny Elliot came close to scoring just before half-time as he curled an effort goalwards, forcing a good stop from Bland.

The second half looked very promising for Robbie Savage’s side as they looked to cruise their way to a 35th win in the Northern Premier League.

In the 58th minute, Elliott came close to making it 3-0 as his powerful shot was straight at the Seasiders’ keeper.

Four minutes later, Tre Pemberton laid the ball off to Duffy who fired his shot into the top corner with a sublime finish to increase Macclesfield’s goal cushion to three.

In the 74th minute, Paul Dawson nearly found himself on the scoresheet as after some good build up play, the 26-year-old was denied by Bland.

In the final kick of the game, D’Mani Mellor’s chipped ball managed to find Sam Heathcote who unselfishly played the ball across to Elliott to make it four for the Silkmen.

A truly incredible season sees the NPL Champions finish on 109 points with a whopping goal difference of 79.

Next season will be heavily anticipating for Macclesfield as they play in the sixth tier of English Football in the Vanarama National League North.
