Silkmen put six past Witton Albion to reach the Fourth Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

John Rooney opened the scoring with a volley just outside the six-yard box just 16 minutes into the game beating the Witton Albion keeper at the near post after a good cross from right back Tre Pemberton.

Macclesfield doubled their lead eight minutes before half time through Justin Johnson who received a cleaver ball just over the halfway line from Danny Elliott and Johnson was one on one with the keeper who was unable to keep out his low effort.

Elliott almost added a third for the hosts, but his effort hit the crossbar as Macclesfield went into the break with a two-goal lead.

The first chance of the second half fell to Albion striker Mamadou Djabi but his effort was blocked by Paul Dawson. Witton halved the deficit ten minutes into the half through Reece Daly.

On the hour mark substitute Edy Maico restored the two-goal lead with a clever outside of the foot finish to the far post from a tight angle and it was another assist for Elliott who headed the ball to Maico.

With 15 minutes left of normal time Macc added a fourth goal and it was from a John Rooney freekick from the left-hand side that was met by Elliott, but it came off a Witton Albion player and into the goal.

Three minutes later Maico got his second goal of the game after tapping the ball in from close range as Pemberton got his second assist of the match.

Elliott scored the sixth Macclesfield goal with nine minutes of normal time to play after receiving the ball from Luke Duffy, on the turn he hit the ball with his left foot from outside the area and the keeper was unable to keep it out of the goal.

It is another cup fixture this week as they take on City of Liverpool in the Isuzu FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round on Friday night away.
