Macclesfield FC can confirm that club founder Rob Smethurst has resumed the role of Chairman, following a short period away from the position.
In recent weeks, the club has seen a significant increase in media interest, reflecting the progress being made on and off the pitch. With that heightened profile comes the need for a clear figurehead to represent the club and lead its external communications.
As the founder and driving force behind Macclesfield FC’s rebirth, Rob is uniquely placed to fulfil that role. He has therefore agreed to step back into the Chairmanship to act as the public face of the club, providing leadership, continuity, and a clear point of accountability. Rob is working on some major media opportunities that will greatly benefit the club in the coming months and years.
Alongside this, the Board is confirming a number of further structural changes to strengthen the club’s leadership team. Jonathan Bull will formally move into the role of Sporting Director, working closely with Jimmy Holmes, the Head of Recruitment.
The senior management will also be strengthened with the formal appointment of Dan Stuttard, who has been supporting the club’s general operations for many months. His official inclusion reflects the important contribution he has already been making behind the scenes and will further enhance the club’s operational capacity.
These changes have the full support of the Board, who remain collectively committed to responsible governance, financial sustainability, and the long-term success of Macclesfield FC.
