Macclesfield FC are delighted to announce the signing of 19-year-old Goalkeeper Shea Callister on dual registration terms from Maghull FC!

Callister joins us on a dual registration from NWCFL Division One North side Maghull, who he signed for at the start of the season. Prior to which, Callister’s previous parent Club for the first half of 2025 was Championship side Hull City, during which time he spent a month out on loan at Brighouse Town.

Shea has also been the shot-stopper at other sides in the 92 including Blackburn Rovers, Burnley and Salford City, featuring predominantly in each of their U21 set-ups. During his development over the course of the last few years, Callister has also broadened his horizons and has enjoyed spells and gained valuable minutes on loan at other North West based non-league sides including 1874 Northwich, Burscough and Clitheroe FC. Callister’s willingness to go out and gain that priceless experience was rewarded also with two appearances for Hull’s U21 side last season.

Shea now joins the Silkmen after impressing First Team management during a trial period in training over the last few weeks, having gone in search of regular men’s football and will challenge current Silkmen stoppers Max Dearnley and Joe Nicholson for the number one spot.

Upon signing for the Silkmen, Manager John Rooney added “I’m delighted to have Shea on board, he’s a lad we’ve been looking at for a few weeks in training and has really impressed me. He’s a confident lad, one I’m glad to have in and around the group. It’s always healthy to have competition between goalkeepers, as it is in every position, but he’ll push the other ‘keepers for a place in the team, and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do to make that happen”

Everyone at Macclesfield FC would like to wish Shea all the very best of luck during his time with us at the Leasing.com Stadium, and hope that the Silkmen supporters will equally give him a warm welcome.

Callister will alternate between playing for Macc and Maghull as per the agreement to be registered for both Clubs, but is eligible to feature in the squad on Saturday for our Enterprise National League North fixture against league leaders South Shields. Tickets are available HERE
