Macclesfield FC are delighted to announce the signing of exciting midfielder Fin Shrimpton following his departure from Chester.
Shrimpton joins the Silkmen ranks following his departure from fellow Enterprise National League North side Chester FC, a talented midfielder who featured prominently for the Seals in the middle of the park last season, impressing Manager John Rooney on each occasion that the two sides clashed, most recently in our play-off eliminator at the Leasing.com Stadium, prior to an early departure through injury.
The 23-year-old also provided an assist in the initial encounter at the Deva Stadium back in late December, turning heads in the process, eventually earning him a move to Macclesfield ahead of the 2026/27 Enterprise National League North season.
Shrimpton began his career at Barnsley before securing a move to play men’s football with Scunthorpe United, before being snapped up by Spennymoor Town, the latter two of which were at a similar level, eventually signing for Chester at the beginning of the last campaign.
Fin featured 40 times for the Seals throughout the 2025/26 season, contributing nine goals and two assists along the way, playing his part in what was to be an unfortunate end to Chester’s play-off charge at the Leasing.com Stadium with Luke Duffy’s last minute winner instead sending the Silkmen through to the semi-final against the now-promoted Kidderminster Harriers.
The dynamic midfielder predominantly provides his best performances from a central role, though also has experience of playing deeper in a defensive role, offering John Rooney another valuable, versatile option.
Everyone at Macclesfield FC is delighted to have Fin on board for the upcoming 2026/27 season and wish him lots of luck during his time with the Club.
