Macclesfield FC are delighted to announce the signing of prolific striker James Gale from Altrincham FC!

The 24 year-old forward joins the Silkmen from our local rivals on a permanent basis having agreed terms in the last 24 hours.

After starting out life in football at Long Eaton, Gale was quickly snapped up by then EFL League Two and now League One side Mansfield Town in 2021, who’ve been the parent Club for the majority of his career, during which time the front man has featured over 40 times and scoring 7 goals for the Stags inbetween enjoying loan spells at Guiseley, Solihull Moors and Boston United before being drafted in by Phil Parkinson for Altrincham at the beginning of the 2025/26 season.

James has spent the last six months with the Robins, more recently under Neil Gibson having scored 5 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions before making his move to the Silkmen at the end of this week having impressed Manager John Rooney.

Gale adds additional firepower at the top end of the field as Macc now look to end the season on a high and push for promotion to the Enterprise National League.

The 6’4″ traditional number nine-style striker is eligible and in contention to feature for the Silkmen in our next Enterprise National League North fixture away at Peterborough Sports on Tuesday 27th January.

Everyone at Macclesfield FC would like to wish James the very best of luck during his spell with the Silkmen and look forward to welcoming him to a packed out Leasing.com Stadium next Saturday at home to Bedford Town.

Full interview with James will be live on Silkmen TV shortly.
