SILKMEN SET TO IMPLEMENT DAYTIME TRAINING MODEL

05 May 2022 | First Team, Latest News

In what is thought to be an unprecedented move within Step Four of the football pyramid, Macclesfield FC are excited to announce that from the start of the 2022/23 season our First Team will move to a daytime training model.

This significant move reconfirms our unwavering commitment to achieving further success to that enjoyed during the 2020/21 campaign and has only been made possible thanks to the remarkable passion and financial diligence of Robert Smethurst and Robbie Savage – together with the incredible loyalty of our commercial partners and phenomenal support that we have received from our fans.

Players will not only train up to four mornings per week at the magnificent facilities here at the Leasing.com Stadium, they will also take their fitness to the next level alongside our members at Stealth Gymnasium, receive a more targeted level of recovery provision and work on all aspects of their game in a much more structured manner thanks to the increased levels of contact time.

In addition to this, players will also be offered the opportunity to inspire the next generation with coaching roles that will integrate them into the fabric of the Club even further.

Adopting this model at this stage of our development clearly exemplifies the Club’s relentless ambition and signals a new and exciting era here at the Leasing.com Stadium.

Director of Football Robbie Savage stated –

“Moving to the daytime training model has always been an objective of ours and I am absolutely delighted that we can now embark on the next stage of our development.

“If I am being honest, the move has come earlier than I originally anticipated – but that really is testament to every single person at this Football Club.

“We achieved so much last season – both on and off the pitch, and the staggering amount of progress that we made has played a major role in us being able to take this next step in our evolution.

“Having players with us in the daytime is incredible at Step Four and it really does signal our intent in crystal clear fashion.

“Not only that but the model significantly aids our recruitment process – as it allows us to attract players who would have been unavailable to us otherwise.

“This new model provides us with a tangible platform to attract the very best players we can – one of whom will be unveiled within the next few days and I can assure you, the signing will blow your mind!

“We know that Step Four will be a significant challenge for us all – but you can be assured that we will be ready for it and today’s announcement proves that.”
