Macclesfield FC can confirm that we have made the decision to retire the number 20 shirt in memory of Ethan McLeod.

After consultation with Ethan’s family, the Club can confirm the number 20 shirt will be formally retired to remember Ethan’s legacy.

Ethan wore his heart on his sleeve and always gave 100% every time he wore the blue and white of Macclesfield Football Club.

Not only was Ethan an excellent young footballer with a bright future, but he also had an infectious personality that brought a smile to everyone’s face.

The move symbolises the contribution that Ethan made towards our Club and one that will forever be remembered amongst his teammates.

We have also set up a Just Giving page to help support Ethan’s Family and Friends and leave a lasting legacy in his name. You can donate to the Just Giving page HERE.

The Board of Directors have provided the following words on Ethan’s legacy:

“Ethan McLeod will forever be remembered as a valued member of the Macclesfield FC family.

“Ethan wore the Silkman shirt with pride, commitment and dignity and his time at the Club left a lasting impact on teammates, staff and supporters alike.

“He embodied the spirit of the Club both on and off the pitch, and his character, passion and presence will never be forgotten.

“As a mark of respect and in recognition of his contribution, the Club will be retiring the number 20 shirt with immediate effect. This number will stand as a lasting tribute to Ethan and the memories he leaves behind.

“Our thoughts are with Ethan’s family, friends and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

“Rest in peace, Ethan EM20.”

May you rest in peace Ethan – you will forever be EM20.
