Macclesfield FC are delighted to announce the signing of defender Tom Wilson after a successful trial period.
The 25-year-old joins John Rooney’s Silkmen after his departure from King’s Lynn Town, where he spent the last two seasons in the National League North.
Wilson is a versatile, strong centre-back with plenty of experience at this level of football, featuring 82 times for the Linnets during his two year spell.
Having come through the ranks at Sheffield United in his youth, Wilson earned his first senior move to Hallam after his departure from the Blades.
A short-term loan to Stalybridge Celtic followed before he signed for Derbyshire-based side Belper Town in 2021.
Wilson had a successful spell with the Nailers, where they secured promotion to the Northern Premier League Premier Division thanks to a Play-Off victory over Chasetown in the final.
Despite finishing bottom of the Northern Premier League that season, Wilson put in a number of strong displays which saw him catching the eyes of Clubs higher in the pyramid.
His successes at Belper earned him a move to National League side FC Halifax Town but he struggled for regular game time during his time at The Shay.
Wilson then joined King’s Lynn and saw the development in two differing campaigns for the Norfolk based side over the last two seasons.
