SILKMEN APPOINT DAVID MCNABB AND TIM LEES

Macclesfield FC can confirm the appointments of David McNabb as First Team Manager and Tim Lees as his assistant, after they both agreed terms with the Club earlier today.

David is a born winner who is committed to nurturing a culture and environment which promotes a progressive style of football – getting fans on the edge of their seats.

Holding a UEFA B license, David started his coaching career at Manchester United where he gained valuable experience within the younger age groups before being named as the Under-18s Manager at St Helen’s Town back in 2015.

During this period, David was also named as Reserve Team Manager at Rainhill Town where he secured the league championship, before being appointed as Billinge FC Manager in 2017.

After lifting the Guardian Cup in 2018, Dave became much sought after due to the exciting brand of football that his teams were becoming renowned for.

In June 2018, David was appointed as the First Team Manager at Warrington Rylands following the Club’s promotion to the North West Counties Football League.

In accepting the role, David embarked on what would prove to be a phenomenally successful period that would propel him into the national limelight.

Building a team effectively from scratch, Rylands became North West Counties First Division South champions at the end of David’s first season in charge and they also claimed the league’s Champions Cup title in what was undoubtedly a memorable season for all at Gorsey Lane.

Although the following two campaigns were ravished by the Covid-19 pandemic, Rylands were then promoted to the Northern Premier League courtesy of their vastly superior points per game average in 2021.

In addition to this, Dave led Rylands to FA Vase glory at Wembley Stadium – beating Binfield 3 -2 in what proved to be an encapsulating tie.

Entering the Northern Premier League West Division for the first time last season, you may have been forgiven for thinking that a period of consolidation would follow.

However, an incredible season saw Rylands claim a third consecutive promotion – finishing a point ahead of Workington to claim their place within the Northern Premier League.

As you can see, David has one, if not the best record at this level of the game and this is exemplified by the statistics.

Whilst at Warrington Rylands, David enjoyed a 69.28 win percentage, as well as boasting a goal average of well over two hundred.

In the 153 games that David took charge of, his Rylands team scored 376 goals and conceded just 151.

As such, David was the clear choice to take over the reins at Macclesfield FC and we are delighted that we have been able to attract a man of his stature at this level of the game.

David will be assisted by the equally impressive figure of Tim Lees.

Tim began his coaching career within the youth set-up at Watford, before moving to Wigan Athletic in 2010.

Spending four years with The Latics, Tim built up a vast amount of knowledge through lucrative FA Youth Cup runs and spending time with La Liga side Rayo Vallencano.

Tim then made the move to Liverpool in 2014 where he managed a wealth of youth sides – as well as providing individual training programmes for a number of First Team players.

After spending four years with American side St Louis, Tim joined David McNabb at Warrington Rylands in April 2021 – helping him oversee their promotion to the Northern Premier League.

Holding a UEFA A licence and a Sports Psychology degree, Tim has been the subject of much interest from EFL sides – turning one Sky Bet League Two side down recently after they offered him an Assistant Manager position.

Tim’s knowledge and passion at this level of the game are second to none and we are truly humbled that he has decided to accept his position here at the Leasing.com Stadium.

We would like to wish David and Tim every success as they begin their tenure here at the Leasing.com Stadium and will be catching up with them soon to gain their thoughts on the move.
