Macclesfield FC were delighted to welcome defender Josef Yarney following his departure from Boreham Wood in the summer of 2025. Yarney is a name that is familiar to manager John Rooney with the two having played together at Oldham Athletic. The centre-back by trade started his youth career at Everton and Newcastle United before going to have successful spells at Chesterfield and Morecambe. The Liverpudlian has plenty of National League experience as well as playing over 20 times for Tranmere Rovers in Sky Bet League Two. Yarney also has international experience having played for teams in India and Palestine during his career.
