Macclesfield Women 2–1 Northwich Victoria Vixens
Dramatic late comeback seals victory for the Silkwomen.
Macclesfield Women produced a spirited second-half comeback to secure a dramatic 2–1 victory over Northwich Victoria Vixens. The first half was a closely contested affair, with both sides enjoying periods of possession and opportunities to threaten.
Young winger Olivia Casemore was particularly impressive, using her pace and direct running to penetrate the opposition defence and deliver dangerous crosses into the box.
Casey also worked tirelessly in attack, providing a constant threat to the visitors. Despite a competitive opening 45 minutes, Macclesfield headed into the break trailing 1–0.
The second half saw a much more positive and determined Macclesfield side emerge, demonstrating tremendous character, belief and fighting spirit.
Manager Rhys went all out with a 3-4-4 formation and then 3-3-5. Their persistence was rewarded in the 75th minute, when Casey Beamon found the net to bring the Silkwomen level.
With momentum firmly on their side, Macclesfield pushed forward in search of a winner. A bold attacking approach saw five players committed forward in the closing stages as the hosts went all out for victory.
That ambition paid off in dramatic fashion when Nicole Ronan struck in the final moments to complete a fantastic comeback and secure all three points. There were also notable performances from Kayleigh Newman, Ebony Stewart and Beth Cameron-Rowecliffe, who all made important contributions to a hard-fought team victory.
The result highlighted the togetherness, determination and never-say-die attitude developing within this Macclesfield Women squad.
