THANK YOU, BANDY!

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that Macclesfield FC can confirm that Peter Band has stepped down from his role as First Team Assistant Manager.

Nothing can be said about “Bandy” that hasn’t been said a million times over – he is and forever will be, a true Silkman.

Joining the Club when we didn’t have a player, let alone a squad – Bandy played a crucial role in assembling a team that would go on to win the North West Counties Football League – Premier Division by a staggering fifteen points at the end of our debut campaign.

There can be no doubt that Bandy gave his absolute all to the cause – with his personality in the dressing room and within the Club in a wider sense infectious to say the least.

It therefore follows that he will be sorely missed by everyone at the Club, although we completely respect Bandy’s decision to step down as it exemplifies his incredible character to a tee.

Bandy stated –

“It really has been a true honour to represent my hometown Club and play my part in putting us back on the footballing map.

“Over the last eighteen months, we have all been on a rollercoaster ride – but we have been on it together and it’s the people I have had the pleasure to work with that I will miss most.

“Nobody really knows what it is like to work at a Football Club unless you are directly involved – especially at a Club like Macclesfield.

“For us to succeed collectively, every single individual has to be 100% committed to the cause – if one person is at 99% then you’re in trouble.

“Being self-employed, the daytime training model represents numerous challenges for me and in addition to this, becoming a father for the second time recently obviously brings its own unique demands.

“As such, I didn’t want to be in the situation where I am that person giving 99% – not only letting myself down, but the group as a whole.

“Since advising the Club of my intention to step down, Robbie and Danny have been absolutely brilliant.

“Not only have they given me the time and space to reflect on things, they have also offered me a range of other roles in a bid to keep me at the Club.

“This included managing Robbie’s prestigious under-18s side, which I was incredibly humbled to be offered as I know how much that team means to him.

“I must admit that my heartstrings we well and truly pulled, but ultimately I have to be true to myself and the Club for the reasons that I have set out above.

“Macclesfield FC will always be in my heart – as will so many of the players, staff, and of course, fans.

“I will still be here as a fan and there will be nobody willing the lads on more than me.

“I would like to thank everyone who has made the last eighteen months so memorable and wish you all every success in the future.”
