LAST TIME AT THE LEASING.COM STADIUM AGAINST SCARBOROUGH

The last time we faced Scarborough Athletic at the Leasing.com Stadium was back in November 2025, when the spoils were shared.

Sam Heathcote’s first-half goal was cancelled out by Dom Tear just 10 minutes from time as the two play-off hopefuls shared the points at the Leasing.com Stadium.

John Rooney’s side had a plethora of chances, but could not find a way past Seadogs’ keeper Ryan Whitley for a second time.

The Silkmen set the early momentum on the day, and went close as D’Mani Mellor’s free header from Luis Lacey’s delivery cross went just over the bar.

The visitors then had a positive spell in the game as Max Dearnley was tested by Harry Green, but the Silkmen shot-stopper saved low with his legs.

It was the Silkmen who took the lead in bizarre circumstances as Sam Heathcote’s 30-yard drive trickled through the legs of Whitley and rolled over the goal line which saw the infamous robot make its return.

Danny Whitehead was the next to go close for John Rooney’s side as he picked up the ball on the edge of the box after good build up play, but his near post drive was turned around the post by Whitley.

The first half was going all the Silkmen’s way as they should have made it two as the on-rushing Max Woltman was found by an intricate ball over the top from Mellor, but the Silkmen’s number 30 poked just wide past the sprawling Whitley.

Danny Elliott was the next to test the Scarborough keeper as he fired a shot from 25 yards which was palmed away by Whitley despite Woltman being in acres of space to the Silkmen forwards left.

The second half started much the same the first ended with the Silkmen firmly in the ascendency, as Woltman was denied again by a fine finger tip save from Whitley after a brilliant counter attacked from the Silkmen.

Luke Duffy looks to get the Silkmen on the counter attack.

Missed chances would eventually come back to bite the Silkmen as Scarborough began to get a firm hold of the game, and should have equalised but for a brilliant double block from Luis Lacey denied Luca Colville.

The equaliser came 10 minutes from time as a familiar face in Theo Chapman clipped a ball over the top to Noah Wadsworth who delivered a pinpoint cross into the path of Dom Tear who had an empty net infront of him to get the Seadogs back in the game.

Substitute Isaac Buckley-Ricketts almost put the Silkmen back infront but his turn and shot was well held by Whitley down to his right.

It was a case of what could have been for the Silkmen, but ultimately failing to find the target cost the Silkmen two points.
