In blazing August sunshine, The Silkmen started life in the Northern Premier League West Division with a blistering 3 – 0 victory against Clitheroe yesterday.

James Berry opened the scoring with a scintillating strike in the 19th minute, before doubling our lead eight minutes later.

Debutant Nicky Maynard then added a third almost instantly, before the second period was seen out with consummate professionalism.
