SILKMEN SIGN ABIMBOLA OBASOTO

23 Sep 2022 | First Team

Macclesfield FC are delighted to announce the signing of highly-rated winger Abimbola Obasoto, who agreed terms with the Club earlier today.

The 20-year-old started his career within the Morecambe’s Academy and progressed through the ranks before being offered a scholarship at The Globe Arena.

An exciting and pacey winger who can be employed on either flank, Abs spent last season at Bury AFC where his devastating performances helped them claim the North West Counties Football League Division One North title.

Making twenty-nine starts, Abs scored thirteen goals and provided eleven assists in what proved to be an exhilarating season.

Named as Man of the Match on nine separate occasions, Abs was undoubtedly a fans favourite and this was proven when he swept the board at the Club’s Player of the Year Awards night.

Since then, Abs has enjoyed serious interest from a wealth of English Football League sides and has been training with Sky Bet League Two side, Barrow.

We are thrilled that Abs has rejected the array of Clubs who were vying for his signature in order to join us and will be catching up with him shortly to discuss the move.
