On this day, one year ago, Macclesfield FC confirmed the senior signing of Carlos Dos Santos. Twelve months on, we reflect on Carlos’ inaugural season with the First Team.
Carlos has enjoyed his first breakthrough season with the Silkmen following an impressive rise through the Macclesfield ranks, now earning him a regular place in John Rooney’s match day squad.
Dos Santos initially came through our very own Youth Academy, as a standout talent in the final few years of his spell with the highest age groups, prior to embarking on our International Football Group’s University Programme, again continuing to impress for the side based in Preston, Lancashire.
Carlos was earmarked early on for a future in football, having featured in the Silkmen’s previous two pre-season campaigns and was recommended by former Manager and Director of Football Robbie Savage to Newcastle Town Boss Neil Baker, formerly of the Silkmen’s coaching staff under Mark Duffy.
Following the tip-off, Baker took Dos Santos under his wing at The Castle for twelve months in the 2024/25 season, before being recruited at First Team level by now John Rooney, becoming only his fourth signing of his first summer in charge with only a month before the start of the 2025/26 Enterprise National League North season.
Since joining up with the First Team, Carlos has deservedly made 28 senior appearances under Rooney, impressing on each and every occasion, possessing a great deal of maturity, strength, composure and overall ability, it is anticipated that Dos Santos will continue to feature for the Silkmen in our second season in the same division, featuring more prominently having impressed in our first four pre-season games.
As a result of his admirable internal progress to date, Dos Santos has also been made an example of upon the launch of our brand new initiative the Emerging Talent Group, hailed as the model student and who those currently within our Youth Academy and IFG programmes are to look towards and aim to follow in his footsteps, evidencing an achievable pathway to the First Team.
